William stares at the torn picture. It signifies an end.
Ends are something William has never been very fond of. He hates when good books end, or when good movies has bad endings. He especially hates one end in particular, the end that caused the torn picture William holds, when no one else is around and he has the bus to himself. William would never tear such a precious picture.
It’s his favorite picture. He likes the picture for many reasons. Artistically the lighting is just right, causing shadows In all the right places. But he mostly loves this picture because he can see the stars in Tori’s eyes.
William used to think that the way her eyes sparkled had to be illegal. No one can have eyes so stunning. And it sends pains through William’s chest to know that he once put those stars in her’s eyes, and also did enough to take them away.
Someone else puts those stars in Tori’s eyes now. But William can’t seem to grasp that, because he always thought that those were his stars, and his alone.
He sees those stars in her eyes again. They went away for a long time, but someone finally put them back. Someone who isn’t William.
No matter how many days, weeks and months have passed since their inevitable end William will always keep that torn picture. The picture she tore right in front of William, just to watch him break, like William had broken her. And as much as keeping that picture hurts William, it reminds him that he was once happy. And It shows him that he once put those stars in Tori’s eyes.
